I'm enjoying reading everyone's responses to the Trope Quiz.
Here's mine:
1. Snowed-In Cabin/Isolated Together For Extended Period of Time
2. Seemingly Unrequited Pining
3. Friends to Lovers
4. Enemies to Friends to Lovers
5. Found Families
6. Fake Dating/Fake Marriage Accidentally Turns Into Feelings
7. 'They All Work In An Office' AU
8. 'Falling For A Coworker/Teammate Is A Bad Idea' Except This Is Fiction So It Works Out
9. Unusually Specific Occupation AU, Like, The Author Clearly Has The Same Job
10. Hurt/Comfort
11. They Break Up (but then They Get Back Together)
12. Hogwarts AU
13. Accidentally Fell In Love With The Mission Target
14. And They Were Roommates!
15. Magical Connection (Telepathy, etc)
16. Coffee House AU/Food Service AU
17. Fairy Tale/Mythology AU
18. High School/University AU
19. 'Groundhog Day'/Karmic Time Loop
20. Soulmate Identifying Marks (Tattoo, Red Thread of Fate, etc)
21. Amnesia Fic
22. Supernatural Creature/Human Romance
23. Adopting/Raising a Baby
23. 'Everyone is Evil'/Mirrorverse AU
25. Body Swapping
26. Loyalty Kink
27. Vampires/Werewolves AU
28. Characters Swap Roles AU (I don't mean in the bedroom)
28. Reincarnation/'25 Lives' AU
30. Royals/Political Marriage Turns Into Feelings
31. Actually Unrequited Pining
31. Pride and Prejudice AU
31. Hot Single Parent(s)
34. Daemons
34. Polyamory
34. A/B/O
34. Selfcest (possibly due to time travel)
A lot of it looks pretty accurate. #1 is absolutely MY JAM and probably my most favorite trope of all time.
Once you get down towards the bottom, the results are a little more questionable. I actually really enjoy the occasional vampire/werewolf or supernatural romance fic, and while I'm not a big fan of A/B/O universes I'm far more likely to read that than "actually unrequited pining," which I won't touch with a ten foot pole.
Are Pride & Prejudice AUs a big thing? I've never actually read the novel, so I think the appeal is a bit lost on me.
