If I think too long about the fact that the last episode ever (and with Gillian Anderson officially saying she's done, I think this is it for real this time) of my all-time favorite show is probably going to be terrible, it makes me really sad. I've been doing my best this season to forget that Chris Carter and any of his endlessly self-indulgent "My Struggle" episodes even exist.
I tell myself that I won't watch it, but I probably will. Curiosity won't let me leave well enough alone. That said, in spite of my somewhat mixed reactions to the episodes, I think this season has been a gift. It's head and shoulders above the quality of Season 10. I've been glad to spend a little more time with Mulder and Scully before they go.
And yes! It is one of the most terrifying things I've ever read. There are scenes in that book that absolutely make my skin crawl.
